  • Mistake

Forgetting to place the inner pot back into the IP before pouring in the ingredients.

  • Solution

Place a wooden spoon on top of the IP after every time you take out the inner pot from the IP housing. It'll help prevent potential damage to your IP.

  • Mistake

Filling the IP with food and liquid up to the max line. That could result in clogging the venting knob.

  • Solution

do your best to avoid the max line.
For pressure cooking: fill up to ⅔ of the pot.
For pressure cooking foods that expand during the cooking process: for foods like grains, beans, and dried vegetables fill the pot only a halfway up. If you've accidentally overfilled the pot, use Natural Pressure Release to stay safe and clean.

  • Mistake

Using the quick release for foamy food or when it's overfilled.

  • Solution 1

Use the natural release for foamy foods.

  • Solution 2

Gradually release the pressure by turning the venting knob a bit with a wooden spoon until you hear a hissing sound. Use that position to release the tension slowly.

  • Mistake

Some new users have mistaken the "Timer" button to set the cooking time, and then wondered why the IP is doing nothing. The "timer" button is meant for delayed cooking.

  • Solution

Before returning the IP to the store for not working properly, check to see if the "Timer" Button is lit. If so, press the Keep Warm/Cancel Button to start again.

  • Mistake

Forgetting to turn off the venting knob to a sealing position

  • Solution

Make it a habit to turn the venting knob every time to a sealing position every time you start pressure cooking. Don't walk away until the floating valve has popped up.
