1. Avocado on Toast
Ingredients:
- One piece of lightly toasted bread
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1-2 teaspoons of milk (for added moisture)
Directions:
Spread on toast, then cut the toast into squares or strips.
2. Avocado Yogurt
Ingredients:
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients. Blend in a food processor for a smooth consistency. Serve as a sweet snack by itself, or let toddlers dip crackers into it.
3. Avocado and Banana
Ingredients:
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1-2 teaspoons of milk (for added moisture)
- Whole banana, mashed
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients. Scoop the mix onto a tray or into a baby bowl, and enjoy!
4. Avocado and Chicken Puree
Ingredients:
- One chicken breast, boiled
- One teaspoon of olive oil
- Half an avocado
Directions:
Cut the boiled chicken breast into slices and let it cool. Then blend everything until you get your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
5. Avocado and Apple
Ingredients:
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce (or you can boil apples and put in a processor)
- Juice from half a small lime
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients. Scoop mix onto a tray or into a baby bowl for your little one!
6. Avocado and Tilapia
Ingredients:
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- One filet of tilapia, either grilled or steamed, mashed with a fork
- One teaspoon of olive oil
- Juice from half a small lime
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients, and you’re done!
7. Avocado, Rice, and Cauliflower
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of cooked rice
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1/3 cup of steamed cauliflower, mashed with a fork
- One teaspoon of olive oil
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, breaking it up with a fork (or put into a food processor for a smoother consistency).
8. Avocado and Pasta
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of cooked pasta (your choice, but I like the twirly kind)
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- One teaspoon of olive oil
- Two teaspoons of milk
Directions:
Mix avocado, olive oil, and milk into the pasta, and then serve!
9. Avocado, White Beans, and Turkey
Ingredients:
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- 1/3 cup of white canned beans, partially mashed
- 1/3 cup cooked ground turkey (you can put in a food processor if needed)
- Two teaspoons of milk
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and serve.
10. Avocado and Tofu
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of tofu
- Half an avocado, mashed with a fork
- One teaspoon of olive oil
- Juice from half a small lime
Directions:
Mix everything in a bowl, breaking up the tofu for chunky consistency (or blend it in a processor).
A Few Fun Tips!
- You can puree each of these recipes can run in a food processor for younger children.
- Also, you can adjust the measurements as needed (more or less, depending on the age of your child).
- If you make more to freeze, make sure it is in an airtight container or bag and label it with the date.
